Hi Guys,

This is my first post on this forum and I would like to introduce myself.

My name is Steve and I am an Englishman living in Denmark, Europe. My hobby is collecting and riding Moto Guzzi motorcycles.

It was recently brought to my attention that several stamps have been released worldwide, which depict Moto Guzzi motorcycles. I am not a stamp collection but have decided that I would like this collection of stamps.

Having done some research it is generally accepted that 11 such stamps exist. But having done a little more research I think there may be possibly 13.

The accepted ones are:

1976 Guinea Bissau - Found
1984 Malta - Found
1954 San Marino - Found
2012 Australia - Found
2013 Italy - Found
1974 Isle of Man - Found
1987 Isle of Man - Found

1985 Afghan - Not found
1998 Cuba - Not found
1976 Mali - Not found
? Nederlands - Not found

That is the accepted 11

I think there is also an Maldives RF7 stamp depicting a 1926 Moto Guzzi 500 motor cycle but I do not know what year it was issued. I have seen this stamp depicted on the internet. I have also seen the Nederlands stamp on the internet.

There is also a 1942 Italian propaganda label which was never issued.

As for the other 3 stamps, I have not found any photos of them.

I am here to ask for your help in either tracking down the other stamps and propaganda label, or for any information about these stamps that you can offer me. I am hoping that someone can confirm that the other stamps do exist and hopefully provide images.

Thanks in advance.

Steve

Here are 3 of my 4 Moto Guzzis. I am finding that tracking down these stamps is quite exciting. I can see this leading on to first day covers. I have already seen a couple of Guzzis on them.

Hi Steve,

I searched Scott's electronic catalogue for you and found the term "Moto Guzzi" in just the following entries:

Guinea-Bissau, Issued 20 February 1985. Scott cat number 627-633. No.633 states "35p value - Moto Guzzi".

Maldives, 30 October 2000. Scott cat number 2479 states "1928 Moto Guzzi". (It's one stamp in a sheet of six bike brands).

Mali, 18 October 1976. Scott cat number 265-268. No.265 states "90fr value - Moto Guzzi 254, Italy".

Sorry, but no pictures available to me.

I hope that this may assist you. Good luck with your new collection.

GLENN

I really appreciate your help.

Thanks for posting the pictures of the Moto-Guzzi...brings back fond memories.
The first motorbike I ever drove was a 750cc MG back in 1968...i was17 at the time and
a friend of mine got tired of me bugging him for a ride on this magnificent bike...
so one day he asked if I knew how to ride... I answered "of course I know"... which was a lie.. I sat on many motorbikes, knew about the all the controls, shifting gears etc... but I didn't have a licence so I never actually got to ride one... he gave me the keys.. and somehow I managed to ride and take good control of that bike... a very quick learn indeed.. I rode that bike in the late evenings when there was little traffic for a week... sorry I know this is bit off topic.. but if I find some stamps i'll post the images.
Here's a photo I found the internet of the model I rode.

Hiya Steve,
I count 44 stamps that are Guzzi related stamps in my collection, but 3 or 4 would be "fake" issues from Russian areas.

I have been collecting Postal items relating to Italian motorcycles since the 1990's so if it's around I most likely have it.

Some of my items are online on my flicker page.

I collect "Any philatelic material that depicts a motorcycle, or part thereof, or name of manufacturer, where the make of motorcycle is recognizable as being of ITALIAN ORIGIN."
