Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus Post issued this Souvenir Sheet for EUROPA 2014 sets.

Date of Issue: 23 rd May 2014
Two stamps (0.80 & 1.80 YTL) and one souvenir-sheet (0.80 & 1.80 YTL)

But the stamps issued by the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus are not recognized on an international level, not by the UPU nor by PostEurop.

I guess it hadn't occurred to me that mail postage wouldn't be accepted in this day and age. What a curious thing. Are there geo-political reasons?

Northern Cyprus was occupied by Turkish Army since 1974 ! The self-proclaimed "Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus" is recognized by Turkey only !

I understood that since 1993 all Europa stamps are issued by PostEurop
and if so, how could these stamps not be recognized by PostEurop?

PostEurop is NOT a stamp issueing entity. They are the European equivalent of the UPU. Each European country that is a member of PostEurop prints it's own stamps! PostEurop will suggest a common theme each year.
If you would like more info, please go to www.PostEurop.org and all the member states and postal administrations are listed. I do believe that the sheetlet that March showed is legitimate!

@ Petert 4522

UPU and PostEurope do not recognize Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus !

You cannot find it on PostEurope country list ! Read here :
EUROPA Stamps by Country http://www.posteurop.org/EUROPA%20Stamps

@ guykickinit
The stamps are valid on T.R. of Northern Cyprus territory and for mail from this territory to Turkey.
For other countries are illegitimate.
Of course maybe some correspondence from Turkish Cyprus can reach accidentally other countries.
