I can't quite make out the wording on the first two sheets. Are they synagogues in Romania?

Yes. Those are synagogues in RO :

The first cover : TEMPUL CORAL - Bucharest ( the main synagogue in RO of Jewish Community)

The second cover : main picture on left : the Synagogue SHAS HEVRA - in Cluj-Napoca ; small pictures on right the synagogues in Northern Ardeal : Sighet, Targu-Mures, Satu-Mare, Oradea

As I think of the synagogues in Romania at the beginning of this post, it was a nice surprise to see that during Nicolae Ceau#537;escu's rule that these were not destroyed.
