New Louisiana cover:

Here is a cover that I just picked up today. I only gave a couple bucks for it but this is the sellers image and description-

Legal cover from 1875.
Large legal cover with Scott #156 (1 Pair) & Scott #158 (Two pairs & 1 single) postmarked OPELOUSAS, {La.}/JUN 13.

The entire cover contained a deposition addressed to the court in New Orleans, La. regarding a case involving a physician.

Thank you Brian! And for $6.00 I wasn't going to pass it up!

pjstamps I'm not really sure why the 20¢ postage? Maybe a registration or distance rate maybe it was a heavy vellum document? I'm not sure?

We are talking deposition. Many many legal pages. It is likely due to weight. Registered items would at least have a manuscript notation of such. Special delivery was several years away.

Yes, looks like the doctor was being sued, and responded to a court order for medical records which were heavy!
