I contacted this seller about a week ago about a listing that I felt was misleading in the respect that I believe the stamp in question is rebacked. After initially seeming to be uncooperative, the seller DID exhibit a willingness to possibly do something about my opinion, particularly since I offered to back up my opinion by paying for his expert fee if I was wrong. So even though the jury is out on that particular item, and he has not followed up on it so far, his willingness to listen and possibly take corrective action resulting in an overall positive exchange with him.

Just as an FYI; from the 2012 Durland Plate Number Catalogue for plates of #499, there is this footnote: "Plate 7942 is not scarce but it is the sheet on which the 5 cent errors are found. The plates bring substantial premium. The errors do not appear in any of the plate blocks." No premium pricing is noted for the plate under #499 plates. Under plates for #467 and #463 essentially the same note follows. Pretty hefty price for the plate number listed under #467--$140-$200.

Well slap me hard and call me stupid. Perhaps his blocks aren't overpriced after all. There's no other way I would have ever known that.

Heck, Im lucky if I ever up to as many as 10.
I look at his rating vs # sold.
I say cut him some slack. I'd buy from him and I'm about as paranoid as they get!! Why, I put a quarter in a slot machine and lost, and haven't gambled since. That was over 25 years ago.

Well, a few months back I bought a nice Belgian Closed Mail cover from him and was very pleased with the transaction. We haggled a tad and it was very straightforward and an easy purchase.

I'd absolutely buy from him again.

IMO perhaps listing the plate blocks as coming from plate 7942 would help?
