sometimes I browse goodwill auction - I have three bids on stamps since last night- watch out for their shipping sometimes it is expensive- it is a fun site to use- usually nothing major there but I bid on the usa album and statesman album.

I've seen common ordinary 300 stamp lots go for $60 at Goodwill, it's amazing the money they get for some of their auctions.

ha yup how true they can get expensive for some rough stuff- I did see 20 morgan dollars up to around $450.00 still room for some meat there. also an 1883 atlas for around 15 bucks, I sold one of the same on ebay for $180.00. Some bargains, some dogs, they have a nice chello for sale but I don't play. There are three framed stamp sheets I bid on will go good on my wall $12.00 at the moment.

I'll make sure not to bid against you LarryBruce, as I frequent that site often. Your right about their shipping, then sometimes they add on a handling fee to boot.

Feel free to outbid me I think I overdid it on 5 auctions and now I am down to three, if I win it will be ok but my auctions on ebay are slow at the moment. I usually buy and sort through what I want to keep and sell the rest, so I am kinda saturated right now and need to thin out. Goodwill goes for a good cause whoever wins anyway-the ones I bid had mystery folders or booklets I was curious what was in there.

for others not familiar with goodwill this is their own auction site not ebay. Here is the link to their stamp auctions currently being run- they have a ton of other auctions.

I started visiting ShopGoodWill after your recommendation some months ago, LarryBruce, but I find that their shipping/handling moves most items well past what I would be willing to pay. I'm glad they get the action.

It *does* seem useful to set time-date alerts so that you can re-visit the bidding in the minutes before an item closes.

Surely, there's an app for that, SniperBruce?

Cheers,

/s/ sniperPikey

some items you can pickup in person, I wonder if one can browse their local GW.(save on those shipping charges)

log in, click my account,it has many buttons like "auctions in progress"

I have not used the personal shopper or watch list yet but options you have there.

the only button a sniper needs is the bid button ha lol, 15, 14, 13, 12, 11, "BID!!" 10, 9, .........winner!

yes your all right on goodwill they have high shipping and a surcharge you have to really want the item or watch how much you bid check the charges first before you start bidding, a bargain at 90cents can go much much higher and you naturally don't go there...

i got on another note a guy on ebay charging state tax, I don't go there, plenty of other places to buy, gotta weed em out.

The Goodwill stores dont display the items normally seen on the site. When the workers go through it they have clear instructions that certain items are marked for Internet auction.

I sometimes browse their military surplus items. Once in a while something good pops up. I never seen too many stamp lots that was worth what they had on them though. Best of luck to you though.

They have one in there with the western pictorals and coins, Of which I already have 4, but they aren't worth anything near the shipping price, let alone a bid price!!
Nice find on the Store search, too bad there's nothing within a hundred miles of me. LOL

As a side note; Goodwill also sells on other auction sites. I scored a 2008 Scott US specialized for $.78 +$3.99S&H on Amazon from Goodwill Tacoma.

i just gave them an email on their bad shipping prices, something must be done- they are a non profit and I found a clint eastwood movie poster for fist full of dollars for $3.00 and they are using
FEDEX on it for shipping bringing the shipping and handling to over $51.00.(talking bout a fist full of dollars!)

That is out of line and I told them so. Come on 3buck item turns into 54bucks, it had a 5 dollar handling charge and for what. if it is not fleecing the flock it sure feels like it, why go online at all, they should keep it in the store.

When I buy the book to serve man, I hope it is not a cookbook on to serve man!

if they answer my email I am going to suggest they take poster out of frame and send to me for three dollars "PARCEL POST"

i know what you mean about the western ones I bid on one of those but it is bid to high now with the shipping I dropped out in the early bidding having set my limit keeping in mind the high shipping.

It's like shopping for stamps at estate auctions... stuff is either horrifically under- or overpriced... usually the latter.
