This seller on ebay has several listings that all claim to have an inverted watermark. Other than the fact that the scan is upside down; can someone explain to me how it can be inverted? I dont see a photo or scan of the watermark in relation to the image. Is it just a known fact that this stamp, (along with others this seller has listed) indeed has an inverted wmk?

Hmmm.....

On the Stanley Gibbons side of the fence it is very common for an invert watermark stamp to store and listed upside down.

It also lets the owner know which stamp is the inverted one.

Hope its a help. KGV

The seller has given the specific S.G. number which indicates that the stamp has an inverted watermark. Not too unusual a stamp as the process of producing a booklet stamp like that one means that half of the booklet stamps WILL have inverted watermarks.

But why not scan the back of the stamp since that side has the main feature of the Stamp ?

For Australia KGV Stamps Explained I sorted over 5,000 stamps to get a small multiple watermark that would show up in a scan.

Like me not everyone knows how to bring the watermark out in a scan by manipulation!
