Do I put fluid directly onto the image of liberty to check for the watermark? Scott catalog states "watermarks found in normal positions". Normal to me would be on the back of a stamp......shrug. Any advice would be appreciated.

As kevin504 mentions, putting it between your eyes and a bright light will typically work to determine whether it has a watermark or not, and the size of the watermark should be evident.
