It's a nice piece, with selvage, and if he is right quite valuable. I am certainly no expert on market values on this type of material. It's definitely not in my budget.

It was lot 136 in the Feb 2012 Spink auction of the Chartwell Collection (part II).
It sold for £280,000 (plus premiums) against a pre-auction estimate of £400-500,000.
Link (which I hope will work): https://www.spink.com/lot-descripti...?id=12012136
What is it worth today depends on what a buyer is willing to pay for it.

Paul Fraser collectables also bought the block of four 96 rare colour Hong Kong stamps and is offering them at the same price.
Also Stanley Gibbons is offering a block of four Penny Blacks Mint unused from plate 11 for 144,000 English Pounds, so I would say that in the long term all these items are good investments, but how many of us have "Millionare Money" to buy such items.
They will all probably end up in investment collections, hidden away for years to come.

I don't know what it's worth, but it's beautiful. The black is deep and rich.
