I was going through this old lot of stamps that I have and I came upon a few of these old Metered Postage. Still have the original glue; no cancel. Are these still good to use? Any restrictions?
No good to use. Postage meter tapes never get cancelled (except by mistake) so the fact that there is no cancellation does not deem them valid.
Also, they have no date on them. Metered mail must have the date imprint on them on the day they are used. The undated meters were intended for bulk rate and similar bulk mailings and would not be valid for postage on an individual item, but would have to be bundled with other pieces to qualify for that service.
Finally, they are OLD. The "CC Meter" was that of the "Commercial Controls Corporation" and were discontinued more than a half century ago (were in use from 1944-1959). Meter collectors will find these examples collectible, but in no case would they be valid for postage today.
