Issued by Great Britain, as part of a set commemorating various anniversaries, on 2 April 1969, this stamp marks 50 years of the International Labour Organisation (ILO):

An interesting design of stamp, as the position of the hand together with the orientation of the spanner suggests that the operator is tightening
a fitting by moving the spanner downwards away from the body, which was always frowned upon.

Two objections - human muscles are stronger in compression than in extension, and if the spanner slips, the operator will be unbalanced. (My engineering training!)

Albin Lambotte (1866-1955) of Belgium was a pioneer in the surgical treatment of fractures, usually accompanied by osteosynthesis; he designed and constructed the equipment he needed in his own workshop. He was also a skilled musician and artist and beloved teacher. One stamp with an X-ray of the left hand, in a sheet of 5 honoring medical innovations of Belgium.

The International Day of Peace was established in 1981 by the UN and called for a day to strengthen the "ideals of peace and to alleviating the tensions and causes of conflict, both within and among nations and peoples." A second resolution in 2001 fixed the date of Sept. 21 for the International Day of Peace and also called for it to be observed "as a day of global ceasefire and non-violence, an invitation to all nations and people to honour a cessation of hostilities." On these stamps Peace is written in Russian and Spanish.

One in a set of three stamps issued by Afghanistan in 2006 calling for a stop to violence against women. It looks like the woman is hiding in a darkened room, daring to expose only a few fingers.
