On the 4th of April, 1968, Martin Luther King jr. was murdered. 50 years ago today. Both drawings of his hands in this souvenir sheet honoring the 50th anniversary of his Nobel Peace Prize (1964) suggest thoughtful moments, but the way he folded his hands seemed unusual to me.

Hands writing with a pen, printed by lithography, and issued by Haiti on December 11, 1967 as one of a set of six stamps (three of which are airmail) publicizing the importance of education, Scott No. 575.

Woman's hands holding (releasing?) a dove, designed by Ahmed Fekih, printed by lithography, and issued by Tunisia on August 13, 1996 to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the Code of Personal Status (a series of laws ensuring equality between women and men), Scott No. 1102. Bonus: Jewelry (bracelets).

The Vatican issued a stamp for Europa in 2006 which fits perfectly for today's Children's Day: join hands for integration and education.
