Within a larger lot of old Romanian stamps I found this stamp which initially I put it away considering it a bad forgery.

This stamp has no watermark so it was supposed to be SC#143 (Kiriac #131) from 1900.
A genuine #143 stamp I have looks like this:

However, I scanned the supposed forgery stamp and looking at it I couldn't stop noticing that other than the rough print and color everything looked OK. Then I superimposed the 2 stamps and I got an almost perfect match between the 2. What is not perfect is the length of the supposed forgery stamp which is longer with approx. 0.2 mm and wider with 0.1 mm. Other than that all borders, hash lines match perfectly as long as I can see.
One more detail about the assumed forged stamp: its perf. is 13.5"x11.5" which according to Kiriac catalogue existed for this stamp (perf. type D).
Personally I still consider this a forgery but I am intrigued how well they reproduced all elements and how badly they printed it and chose the color.
Any opinions about this alleged forged stamp, would be greatly appreciated.

Have you checked on the 1919 printing, 50b. Rose which comes in perf. 11 1/2, perf. 13 1/2 and compounds.

Pagoda, you are right, based on color looks like SC#227 from 1919. I always ignored numbers SC#225-229 as I couldn't find them in Kiriac (Romanian) Catalogue but now taking a closer look I found them. In this Catalogue they are placed together with SC#212, 214 and 223. It is specified indeed that all these stamps have a lower printing and paper quality so after all may be a genuine stamp.
To Stallzer, the price wasn't a real issue as even the original I was mentioning #143 is only $17 while the more probable #227 is 1.75$. However, personally I would feel better if this would be #227 as I did not have any stamp from this issue so at least now I have a possible reference.
Thanks Floortrader for your vote.
