A colleague has this query, and I have exhausted all my research without solving it.

In an old printed album for Turkey that I've just acquired it has spaces
for 6 stamps dated 1909 (5pa, 10pa, 20pa, 1pi, 2pi & 2½pi) which appear to
be for stamps of 1908 (Sultan Abdul-Hamid II) overprinted for the accession
of Sultan Mehmed V. The album contains 3 of the 6 stamps and the
overprints appear to have the date "1325" which is OK for 1909.

I cannot find these in either Gibbons or Michel ?

2) Second query - I've also got this rather creased overprint on top of the
overprinted 1pi of 1915
It's the black overprint that is confusing me.

Can anyone please help ?

The underlying stamp does appear to be the A19 design type in Scott, but I followed out the listings in the notes and didn't find the overprints in Scott Classic. Not saying they aren't there...just saying I didn't find them.

As a disclaimer, I should say that I don't spend a lot of time with Turkey.

Thankyou for spending some of your valuable time for us Collin.
My Turkissh collection is growing, and I find I am spending more and more time with them, but frustrating to say the least.
Sometimes one's collection gets to the point where you need specialised catalogues, working with SG simplified, and older cats is like pulling teeth.

I would rather have a stamp listed under the country of origin
with pointers to opts. SG do not do this
How was one to find that Syrian opt in Gibbons?

Lucky,
we would just like to broadcast our appreciation for your help,
thanks, we have them all slotted away (nearly)

snipped:
It was catalogue blindness !
They are in Michel under the Local stamps (Lokalausgaben) under
Jaffa/Smyrna - 6 values overprinted in each location (mine are Jaffa) for
the accession of Sultan Mehmed Resad.
Regards,
