That is the catalog # for this stamp in Scott, other catalogs may have a different #'s assigned to the same stamp. Scott Catalog is a US publication.
This stamp was originally intended to celebrate the 20th anniversary of Facism, but because of the fall of Facism in Italy & San Marino it was transformed into a celebration of the downfall of Facism.

Brian, Scott is the catalog we use here in the US. Number 215 means it is the catalog number given by Scott.
Ideally that means that it was the 215th stamp issued by San Marino!

Peter

Scott is a stamp catalogue published in the US.
You may be familiar with the Stanley Gibbons catalogue, or you could find it in your local library. This stamp is SG 267, issued in 1943, for the fall of fascism (San Marino stamp no.267 listed in Stanley Gibbons).
