The internet has just about wiped-out correspondence chess, so postcards transmitting chess moves ought to be skyrocketing in price ... any day now ... yeah, right.

Q/ What games did you play by postcard?

Cheers,

These postcards are purpose-printed in Polish & English.

Q/ Does anyone have purpose-printed postcards in other language pairs? For chess, or other games?

I redacted the names.

I once lived all of two blocks from the address in Berkeley.

Cheers,

Ah, the good old days. Brings back lots of memories... Actually, correspondence chess is alive and well, with the preferred method being the online server (like ICCF dot com). But I do remember spending hours and hours working on my moves and fixing up the cards - lots of bookkeeping then, not so much now. I doubt if there are many sources for the pre-printed cards now, as anyone with a laser printer and blank postcards can make them easily. Or, you can fix up the master and have them printed in quantity. Most of the national federations (like at ICCF-US) used to sell them to bring in a little revenue for their non-profit operations... As an aside, some players used to have little rubber stamps (usually red for white pieces and black for white pieces) where they would also diagram the position using the blank diagrams on the cards.

This Vilniutian (or whatever we call someone from Vilnius) re-purposed an everyday city view card to play chess.

Q/ What games did you play by postcard?
