I have been hoping to sell most of my collection but before I start offering what I have on the Sell or Want Forum, I would like advice. On Stamp Community, would you like to see offers of US, WW mixes or country specific and does it matter to you if stamps are on or off paper. I can take want lists of US by Scott number mostly from 1900 and some late 1800s. The majority of my WW is from the 1980s and 90s.
It is unlikely that I will sell large kiloware lots since Guatemala's postal prices are quite high for anything over 50 grams that is mailed to destinations outside of Central America.

I prefer off paper but I certainly can't speak for anyone else. I know some prefer on paper because it protects the stamps perfs and overall condition but to each their own. I'm looking forward to your offerings. Cheers!
Quig do you have any large banknotes you want to set loose? I need a US scott #160 and a US scott #150. |

Usually, I prefer to buy on album pages - rather than the seller taking them off the pages and risking messing them up. By country is also preferred, unless the quantity of stamps is very small, and then "same letter" countries could be added to the offer.
One other thing is date parameters. I would jump at buying a collection "thru 1940 or 50 or 60", but not one thru later years as I don't collect that era.
Of course sometimes its best to just sell the album, complete with stamps, but "it depends". |

Only my US and Guatemala were on album pages. I put the stamps in and I took them out, carefully, sometimes slicing the hinge at the fold when in doubt that it would come off easily. Of the rest, 95% or more of the US and WW have never been on pages; they are accumulations. I have been working on sorting and pitching stamps on and of for several years. So many times, I have wished hat I had these stamps in the US; I would have dumped most of them in a big box, started a bid at $10 pus shipping and gotten rid of them. But as I said, here in Guatemala, postal fees are simply too high to do that. Maybe I'll hear some gasps when I say that I have thrown away at least 10,000 stamps during the past two years. Most were Flag Over Porch flag stamps that some gave to me. I did salvage a couple hundred coil plate number stamps out of it.
I should have a several US #150 stashed away and possibly an extra #160 or two. But I am so overwhelmed with tens of thousands of stamps all over the place, that it may take some time before I can find them. |

Hi, I can relate somewhat.......... I recently bought a collection that yielded hundreds of Polish stamps, with about half past my collecting parameter date (1960). I sure can't throw them away, but I have no use for them. |

Hi there. Country and date specific would be best for me to decide whether to buy or not. I usually look in specific categories, like US Washington-Franklins. I'm always up for the hunt. Sounds like shipping, no matter how you look at it, is going to be the problem from Guatemala, so I think your only option is off-paper at a significant discount for possible damages.
Good luck ... look forward to seeing what you come up with. |

Thanks for all of the replies. I will be incorporating the preferences given. The only one I can't do is stamps on album pages. Hopefully I can start selling in a few weeks. If there is any interest in US or Canada "kiloware" I may have to wait until late November to put them up for sale. I will be traveling at that time to the US (Pennsylvania and Michigan) and can ship for a reasonable price. |
