I collect the stamps and postal history of Liechtenstein. I am looking for a specialized catalog with better coverage of this country than Scott, especially when it comes to topics like the perforation varieties of the 1930 definitives. I suppose that my only two alternatives are Michel and Zumstein. (Don't mind if it is "ab Deutsch.") I know both issue specialized catalogs for Liechtenstein, though Zumstein binds it in with Switzerland.

Does either Michel's or Zumstein's Liechtenstein catalog include listings for postal stationery along with the stamps? I know Michel has a separate Ganzsachen catalog for all of Europe, though it would be rather expensive to purchase separately when I am only interested in one country. Also, does either Michel or Zumstein price pre-philatelic and forerunner (Austrian and Swiss) covers? What about First Flights and Rocket Mail?

Many thanks in advance for your suggestions.

Hello and welcome to SCF.

Zumstein does not cover postal stationery in the Switzerland/Liechtenstein catalog nor early covers. Only FDCs, some stamp day material and National Day postal cards on the Swiss side. Michel might be the better option. I don't know if Zumstein makes separate catalogs for postal stationery and postal history, but I would be interested to know myself.

Zumstein does make a catalog just for Swiss postal stationery, but Liechtenstein does not appear to be included. Also they print a more specialized catalog in two volumes which should go more into depth, but again doesn't cover Liechtenstein.

Zumstein appears to issue periodically a postal stationery catalog for Switzerland alone. Google +zumstein +schweiz +ganzsachen. (No use to me, of course.)

Judging from what I have found online, I have a feeling that Michel may be the better option for the stamps alone, since they make a catalog that is nothing but Liechtenstein without Switzerland thrown in. I would still face the expense of having to purchase their all-Europe postal stationery catalog separately, which is itself broken up into two volumes, pre and post 1960. Unless, of course, the Michel Liechtenstein catalog includes postal stationery. Which if it is going to get that country-specific, I would think it would.

(Looks like our paths crossed. You edited to add about Zumstein while I was writing.)
