Can anyone explain the production schedule of SG Catalogues? They're not annual. Are they biennial? Sporadic?

Specifically, I need to get a new catalog for my ANTARCTICA collection (mostly British Antarctic Territory).

I have the 1st Edition (2010) of this one:

But they also include Antarctica in the Falklands (6th Ed., 2013) catalogue:

Should I buy now?
When can I anticipate their new Antarctica Catalog? 2014?

Any insights appreciated,
Kirk

Hi KirkS,

The 2013 Falkland Islands cat will most likely have the 2012 Antarctica etc cat pages. So a new Antarctica cat is unlikely for a while, but no idea how long. Try an email to Stanley Gibbons here......

I think the main Stamps of the World catalog gets updated annually. The other specialty catalogs, I think, get updated once every 3 years. I just bought the 2011 Ireland catalog. From what I see, Ireland was released in 2008, 2011, will be coming out at the end of 2014.

The material in these catalogs, obviously gets updated annually in the big catalogs (Stamps of the World and British Commonwealth.)

Ireland is my first foray into SG catalogs. Just seeing what I observed from looking at their web site.

According to the editor "most Commonwealth countries catalogues are updated every 3 to 4 years".

The latest 2014 Falkland Island and Dependencies catalogue has a comprehensive detail listing of B.A.T. plus other related Antarctic stamp issuing entities (Falkland Islands Dependencies, South Georgia and South Georgia and South Sandwich Islands).
B.A.T. etc stamp details up to 1970 are taken from the annual Commonwealth and Empire catalogue with later issues being updated and re-priced for the current edition. Costs UK £16.95 plus postage.

The last S.G. dedicated Antarctic Stamp Catalogue was issued in 2012 and has now been discounted to UK £11.95 plus postage. With the "3 to 4 year" update policy (and a discounted current catalogue) it might indicate that a new Antarctic catalogue is not on the way just yet but might be around next year?

There appears to no real rhyme or reason about the updates, and often an old specialist catalogue will be updated because the subject matter has been popular. Some catalogue updates are overdue, such as the 2014 Eastern Africa which I believe has not gone to press yet. I think Southern and Central Africa is suffering a similar fate.

Scotzm -- I don't think there is a 2014 Falkland catalogue -- if you follow my link above, the date is listed at 2013.
