This is my most recent purchase for my York, PA cancels collection. It is not yet in my possession. I asked the seller about the brightness of the cancel. To verify the color, he added a Red Roof Inn card with basically the same bright red to the sales description. Irregardless of the cancel color, I bought it for the year and cancel type.

Another recent addition

I collect pennsylvania cancels as well but only from a few towns which are Jersey Shore, Lock Haven, Williamsport, Clear field & Curwensville Pa. I might have someYork PA. cancels and I will certainly look for you when I get back home. Although I did bring one of my Pa. covers Binders along so I'll post them if I can. I'm very happy to meet another pa. Cover & cancel collector. I hope to be friends too. - Jeff

Living about 10 miles from York myself, I have to ask.......being in Guatemala, what made you decide to collect York covers? John

John, I was born and raised in York. All of my immediate family is still there. I return to visit about every two years on the average.

Jeff, Other than Williamsport, the other 4 towns are relatively small, aren't they? As for my focus, to date, I only have York cancels. My dream is to find a decent early 1800s allegorical cancel. Unfortunately they are expensive. I do however, occasionally check for Manchester and Dover, PA cancels but have not yet purchased any.
