I have begun using True Citrus to remove the more recent US self adhesive stamps. Usually the self adhesive remains even after the stamp peels off the paper. Some people have suggested sprinkling powder on the adhesive to "dry" it out. Any thoughts?

Sorry to veer off topic Glenn but I just noticed you are the president of the Vermont Philatelic society. My family dates back to the late 1700's early 1800's from New Haven Vermont and I have many early 1800's letters and such that I would love to get your opinion on. I will start a new thread and post some of them for your input if that's ok.

Powder does seem to be the generally accepted practice, however, some variations do exist. Here's a previous link discussing some options:
