Hoping our new resident Vermont postal historian can weigh in on these.

A simple cover but a very odd Vergennes strike.

Another strange one that appears to have a New Haven CDS but how did it get delivered ?

Here is kind of a neat one, I believe it was first sent to the wrong New Haven (CT) then forwarded on to New Haven VT.

I'll post up some more but my scanner seems to be having a bad hair day and has lost connection with PC again *Shakes fist at HP*

The middle cover was mailed and delivered locally within the town which was and is still pretty small. Everyone knew everyone back then.

Oops, 1¢ rate makes perfect sense. Mrs Nutting was a family friend I'm assuming and I have other covers sent to her at a different address which got me off on an entirely different path.

Obviously the New Haven CT New Haven VT mistake was more common than one would think.

This one is from the 1st generation Hoyt's, (I am 8th generation I believe) from Son, Jonathan Hoyt, Niles Mich. to his father Jonathan Hoyt in New Haven 1812. Apparently Addison county worked just fine.

Vergennes cover is a collin circle cover seen from about 20 Vermont post offices.

A similar New Haven CT/VT combo is shown in next month's Chronicai of the US Classic Postal Issues published by the USPCS
