Hello All,
I have a stampless cover that's probably from one of the Italian states prior to unification. It's mailed in 1843 to Correggio which was part of the Papal / Roman states at this time. I know the P.P. stands for Port Payé or Postage Paid. The other red oval handstamp is a poor strike. Can anyone identify the octagon handstamp? Something government related? Can anyone tell where this cover was mailed?

Thanks!
Will

As stated in the letter...and the red oval on the front (it's upside down)... REGGIO was the origin.
PP is Port Paye or Post Paid as mentioned or the Italian Porto Pagata which all mean the same.

It should, of course, be P.P - Porto Pagato
