I have found two references with Scott numbers and I don't have a Scott catalogue and I haven't been able to find out which stamps they are. Can any of you help?

1)
Ceylon (Maybe under Sri Lanka?): Scott 108, 10c DS Senanayake

2)
Ethiopia: Scott A104, 15c, 30c and $1 Haile Selassie

I'd be saved if you could give me:
- an SG catalogue number, or
- a year of issue and maybe name of set, or
- a picture.

Thanks!

Ethiopia Scott A104 entry is from July 1968.(505 - 507).
Scott lists 15c, 35c and $1.

Hope this helps.

For the Ceylon entry doing a search on "10C DS Senanayake", brings up a potential match but the Scott image number would be "118" vs the "108" you listed. This potential match is from March 1966 and is Scott 390 (Perf 11.5). Another potential match (similar image) is Scott 418 (September 1968,perf 14).

Thanks Hobsun!

Re Ethiopia: it does not look like these stamps will have been engraved and printed in intaglio. Does Scott say anything about the printing process?

Re Ceylon: Yes, I was afraid it might be one of those. The only other Senanayake stamp I could find was the 1949 intaglio one, but that was printed by Bradbury.

All these stamps are supposed to have been engraved by J L Keen, who only worked for Waterlow and DLR.

So it looks like there may well have been some inaccuracies in my source material, if the Ethiopia set is indeed not printed in intaglio.

Only thing Scott says on the Ethiopia entry is "Photo". (not Litho or Engr).
