Someone stuck these in a homemade album page. They are now pretty well 'stuck'. But anyhow, I've seen scott #123 tete beche with a 123 but not with a 124. So I guess I don't know what these are.

Stampcrow, if I remember correctly this is how the panes were printed. But don't take my word for it; my memory is not what it used to be. Go to www.germanstamps.net for great information!

Stampcrow,

The German terminology for these blocks is "zusammendrucke", or "combinations".

The von Hindeburg stamps are partial booklet panes from two different sheets. Michel catelogues the block as "KZ26" x 2. MNH value is 1,60€.

I gotta run else I'd check on the other for you.

Brian

stampcrow,

The booklet panes (Markenheftchen, or MH) were printed in large sheets (Markenheftchenbogen, or MHB), which were then cut down to pane size. However, the MHB were also available for purchase as uncut sheets to serve the collecting market. The stamps you have were cut from MHB.

Here is a complete MHB 2.

And the pair you have, which Michel catalogs as KZ 4.2.1. (catalog value about €12 MNH, €7 MH)

Here is MHB 43, from which your second example was cut.

Michel doesn't catalog the block of four, but a pair is listed as KZ 26. (catalog value about €7 MNH, €4.20 MH)
