Good morning. I am trying to find guidance on the best way to store stamps. My mother passed away and I now have 4 old albums where the stamps are falling out. My intent is not to sell but to distribute the stamps to my cousins (we are a very sentimental bunch). I did a preliminary inventory and nothing looks to be extremely valuable so my priority is that making sure they are safe. There are stamps loose in a baggie (I think my mother did that) that are my primary concern.

I took a quick perusal of the forum and could not find which board is the best resource (I am kind of distracted right now). Thank you for your guidance.

Me - I'd buy a package of glassine envelopes and make up groups to distribute.....by country, by them, or other classifications. Simple, and cheap solution.

Welcome Sunrise Stamps to Stamp Community!

Dust, humidity, and sunlight are any stamp's worst enemies.

Keep slip covers on or around the albums. Sealing the albums up tight is plastic will allow humidity or mold or dust bugs to stay inside also.

Try to flip through the pages in the sunlight away from a window. Fresh air is good (windy no).

Smel for mold and if present then be careful not to infect any new stamps with the old ones.

There is much joy in having something from one's parents or grandparents when good memories are attached.
