I got an email from bidStart recommending the following item which is listed for $10.13. Being a new returnee to stamp collecting after many years, I don't trust my initial reactions, given how much has changed in the philatelic world. Serious question - am I missing something with respect to this item; why in the world would someone pay 10 bucks for this? Or is the seller just throwing it out there to see if he/she can just pick up an extra 10 bucks for lunch money?

Wow. That has a face that only its mother could love. The seller must believe it to be a rare shade. Is there any guidance in the description? |

You know, I'd purchase it for 13c, if the seller would pay the postage.
I'd cut out the center, mount it a different color postage due stamp & make an art piece out of it! LOL! |

I wonder what algorithm bidStart uses to assemble the items that they include as recommendations in their emails to me. Are they completely random or do they have a way of detecting that I am a beginning stamp collector, even though I have been registered on their site for a while, and therefore this is the type of stuff they think I would be interested in? The luck of the draw I assume - it was just Mr. Ugly's turn to be featured. |

I bought both "cap over 2s" from bidsmart and for the following 6 months, I'd get almost daily recommendations for the same "cap over 2s" I had already bought. Their algorithm is obviously flawed |

Click on some of his other offerings at the above link and you'll see many stamps with major "faults" including rips, tears, holes, pieces, etc., that render most of them non-collectible and worth little more than what one would pay for a "filler" until a better example could be acquired. |

Welcome back to stamp collecting! You are not missing a thing. This stamp is garbage and I would toss it in the trash and I don't throw out much at all. Just ask my wife! |

1 pulled perf, 2 very pulled perfs, 1 extremely pulled, punched and kicked perf, and 2 extreme creases.
Even if I had Hagners full of these and this was the only color variety left to find, I wouldn't put it in there! Not even as a space filler. |

This is growing trend on E Bay, listing very common stamps, damaged stamps and asking big dollars and or high shiping. I assume they there is many unknowing out there. |
