That's a toughie. I've used this site for several puzzling stamps...it just takes a while to search through them all.

I think the wide margin should be at the bottom.

Half anna stamp of the Indian Feudatory state of Faridkot. Printed by the State, but never had any postal use, so are uncatalogued. They were produced because after the state produced 3 basic genuine stamps they, after a long pause, started receiving requests from stamp dealers for any other stamps that might exist. There were none; but rather than turn down offers of money they started printing the 'real' stamps in a whole swathe of different colours, perf and imperf. They also issued this stamp, which had not previously been used, in the same range of colours, perf and imperf.

In normal circumstances they could have put all these stamps into the local Post Offices and legitimised them. But by the time this happened they had signed the Postal Convention with the British, which agreed that the only new stamps they could issue were British India stamps with the state name overprinted.

Bamra1 is quite right about this stamp, which should indeed be rotated 90 degrees to the right.

These

are the only unquestionably legitimate types issued by Faridkot before it signed up to the Postal Convention. There is a third type

but there's some question about how legitimate it actually was.
