Ok, so here are the options: MICHEL number under mounted stamp: Michel number below stamp and above description: MICHEL number above stamp and below stamp title: What do you guys think? |

That's the way I am leaning also. I might make the numbers a little smaller, though. |

WHY do you need catalogue numberd at all???
All stamps are chronologically ordered and can be named! Name and date of issue are enough to define the issue, no need for numbers... |

How will you be mounting the stamps? This would influence how/where I would put the catalog number. My basic preference would be for the number to be in the box below the stamp; thus covered when the stamp is mounted.
If mounting with hinges: number in the box below the stamp.
If mounting with black mounts: number outside the box below the stamp.
If mounting with clear, split-back mounts: number in the box below the stamp.
If mounting with clear, split-top mounts (open on three sides): number in the box above the stamp. Number could be in the box below the stamp but this would be somewhat more difficult to access to check catalog number. |

I agree with Kirk. I would like to be able to see the catalog numbers.
Hard to believe what has been going on in the Ukraine these days. |

Congrats on getting the licence.
I like the one with the number under the box. I wish my Scott National was like that. Especially since I look at them more scanned than I do flipping through pages. Can't lift the stamp up to see the number on a scan. |

Numbers are needed to help differentiate varieties, as can be seen with mu request for the difference between MICHEL BLOCK 116A and BLOCK 116B. There are also perforation and microprint varieties. |

Hi Apastuszak,
I know you have the year at the top of the page, but I like to see the date of issue printed for each of the stamps shown.
In regards to the Michel number, I prefer the 2nd option. But like Galeoptix stated, why show the catalog number? Do you state anywhere in this album at the number identified is from the Michel catalog? If reviewed in North America then one would assume that it is a Scott number, and would find that incorrect when they look in the Scott catalog. Hence the need for the addition of the date.
Great layout!

There's a big page in the beginning telling you they're MICHEL numbers. This is the page I made: The Ukrainian Post Office, UKRPOSHTA, used Michel numbers on their website before they came up with their numbering scheme. |

As for date of issue... I like the date of issue also. But it did not dawn on me to add it until I was well into the 2000's, and I didn't want to anger all the people that had printed pages up to that point. My Ireland pages have the year in them: And so do the US pages |

About the Michel Ost Europa printed catalog: This is not printed every year. This is for as far as I know.. The african catalogues are reprinted every 5 year. The german catalogue every year. The Ost Europa cat will be in between 1 and 5 years. I dont think every year.. for the latest you need the magazine In the magazine are new / latest market prices which can be 100's % different!

The current Osteuropa catalog is the 2014/2015 edition, which comes out in October. The previous edition was the 2013/2014 edition, and it came out in September 2013. So, it looks like it comes out annually.
I have some 2014 issues of Rundshcau. Their Ukraine information is a tad behind. Some of the summer 2014 issues are still giving stamp numbers to 2013 stamps. The online catalog seems to be more current, but lacks the perf varieties. |
