Being a bit new I see a lot of % symbols in albums, is this a way that philatelists marked forgeries? Attached is an image of an example.

DerrickS41 - This kind of symbol is not the percent sign (%). There are no noughts but dots. In my country and possibly in Austria and Germany, it stands for P.T.O. = Please Turn Over.

Your scans are too poor to correctly identify them as forgeries or fakes.

I appreciate the comments, this album did come from Germany and I see that the backs are signed, sorry for the poor images it was more about the markings than them being forgeries. Thank you florian and floortrader!

If the album is from Germany, there might be a "code" or system to the manner in which the stamps are marked on the reverse.

If the markings are experts' marks, and if they followed the convention on marking stamps in use over the last forty to fifty years, or so, then in the case of a stamp thought to be genuine, the expert's name would be along the lower edge of the stamp, starting in the lower left corner (since the stamp otherwise appears to be an unused imperf).

If the word "falsch" (or maybe an "F") appears on the back of the stamp, the expert thought it was a forgery.

This is not foolproof, but it is something to look for.
