Thanks jamsew. I want one for $10

For now I'll have to wait till my 2014 Unitrade I ordered comes in. I can't wait to get a guide that specializes in what I collect. It's been painful using my 2009 scotts C-F guide to learn with. Thank goodness there is forums like this and great articles online.

Joseph. All your coils look OK from the scans - even the off-centre ones.

The one that is often faked is the 2c green perf 12 horiz.. Take a sheet edge stamp with wide margins and trim one side (the other will be straight already due to the sheet margin).
These coils were wet printed (just like many of the sheet stamps)

There are some plate specifics in Marler that can help ID a genuine. Hans Reiche also wrote about it, though I can't recall the reference.

I purchased a paste-up pair (with the correct plate identifiers) just to be sure.

Thanks 3Dadeo. I've ordered a2014 Unitrade and Marler book. Is Reiche the one who came out with a color variation chart on the Admirals?

I also just bought a huge Canadian Estate lot I'm going to be sorting for the next few weeks. So fare I've pulled a lot of nice admirals. I'll try to get some pictures up of what I feel are the real gems in this lot.

Thanks again everyone for all your help.

Hans Reiche wrote a lot about Canadian stamps. If you check the BNAPS Horace Harrison online library, you will find many of his articles in past issues of TOPICS.

Richard Morris published a book with Admiral shades using colour chips. A great reference if you can find one for sale (I have one myself).

You should also look for the BNAPs published Admiral Exhibit by Richard Morris. You can order one from Ian Kimmerly Stamps. It also has great info.
