Wert,

hmh....possibly, it is intriguing but hard to say from this distance. it could be simply bleeding through to the back given its age and being a used stamp. on the other hand the cancels does not bleed through so it is possible the back was imprinted. more likely it is not, but hard to say without having an expert look at it. problem with that is that the used stamps is worth $1 if not, so hard to justify cost to more than likely proof you have $1 stamp

while you are at it--you might want to check your color to see if this is black (versus the normal black brown). my first take was that you might have a black version (worth $50 mint and not seen by Walsh in used). this is unlikely and the back looks sort of brownish, but thought you might want to know.

and, check to see if you have an inverted watermark (coat of arms) while you are at it--that would be about $12 and not commmon.

I will check the watermark shortly, but I adjusted the colour to darken it to see more impression detail..Still, not sure..??

While we are looking at it, here is another possible imprint on the back, Scott #269..??

If a stamp is truly imprinted on the back, would the image not be facing the other way?
