Concerning your Richardson essay, I was fortunately able to pick up one of the second printing of the blue for $29.95 while other dealers are asking $150.00. Others I picked up for $45.00 about 5 years ago. I don't know if it helps you much.

Congrats JoNo - was that an ebay find? Seems I remember one going very reasonably but I missed the bid!

I haven't picked up too many recently, just this RO5 and two proofs:

Bump! This just in from ebay. One of my favorites and tough to find intact!

An example of the Frederick Brown medicine stamp has been posted in this thread before. Here's mine, immediately below (RS38b). What I didn't realize until I saw the second image on ebay this morning was its secret ingredient.

75% alcohol??! That's 150 proof! I guess I shouldn't have been surprised, but my gosh. I didn't realize "medicine oil" was that strong.

Sherwood Springer lists a similar facsimile in his Seventh Edition of North American Cinderella Stamps. Its listed as 37M2 Type II, with a value of $15 in 1974. It's worth considerably more now! The one with the alcohol content may be a subsequent type though as that box is not mentioned by Springer.

I think $500 is a bit optimistic though...

Yes, I agree. The seller used to come to the Minneapolis summer show every year and was amenable to bargaining, but isn't using the "Best Offer" option on ebay. If you're really interested you might contact him outside of ebay. (Google "DK Enterprise")

This is a post 1906 facsimile, hence the alcohol content. Probably worth in the $25-$35 range to someone who wants it. Too many years past the "M&M facsimile era" (1883 to perhaps about 1890) to be worth more.

Here is another version of the facsimile label used after the Pure Food and Drug Act in 1906
