Hi all.

I had found an old stamps collection in my grandpa's apartment. He passed away few years ago, so I have no one - except you - to ask about this collection.

In my non-professional point of view, this collection contains Japanese and Persian stamps, some of them were published on 1894 (from the sentence "Imperial wedding 25 anniversary" referring to old Japan)

Anyway, I would be glad if you can help me with some explanations and maybe some worth-tips.

Thank you all very much,
Gal

Hi, and welcome to the Forum...........
Yes, most are Japanese and some Persia/Iran as best I can tell. I have no idea what they are worth, but I'm sure others will know more and be soon to post. If they were mine, and I wanted to sell them, I would likely put them on ebay.

Ha, if they were mine, I would treasure them and find a home for them in my albums!

Good luck!

Early Japan can be quite confusing. To determine the exact stamp the syllabic characters make a difference as well as the paper type. That being said condition is the most important thing in Stamps so I would start by scanning the older Japanese 1 at a time at 1200 dpi and then posting the images here.

Thanks all for the help. I've no intention to sell, just wanted to understand it better.

Thanks again,

Gal

They look like nice stamps ... and a nice way to honor your grandfather might be to keep the collection going ... do a little research and add to it. Best of luck!

And I do hope you consider continuing the collection. Have you counted or estimated the number of stamps he had?

We hope to see alot more of you around here.

Be very welcome Gal!

Great to know you have a collectors attitude to such a treasure from your grandpa!

I do not know much about Japan but there is an interesting look to your collection.

Welcome Again! KGV
