Since we all see different ads at different times, there's no way to know which one(s) either of you are referring to.

I would posit that >90% of all things listed on ebay appear "overpriced" to someone. Complaining about random things being overpriced on ebay is akin to yelling at clouds or going online to complain every single day your mail is delivered late.

Wow, that's a sure fire way to insult a bunch of SCF folks all at once! As Dan mentioned the only common thread is that they are all SCF members as the ads rotate with each page refresh.

I always try to refrain from making comments about prices asked for items. What each of us ask for an items can depend on a lot of things, including emotions. Although my ads don't appear here on SCF, I currently have an item which I know is priced 2-3x above its market value. Why? I bought it telling my wife it would be a resale item but after purchase I became attached to it and don't really want to sell it!

ILS...there are different levels of collectors out there.
There are collectors who just want to fill a space in a album....
There are those that ONLY pay a certain % of catalog...period.
There are those who only want prefection.
In between these 3 categories....there are thousands more of types.

Remember....YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR!!

I really don't agree with the premise that you get what you pay for. This means, to me, that either someone is stating an oxymoron, or indicating that the more you pay, the better the product. Of course, you get what you pay for, because you bought it, but that doesn't mean that what you bought is any better or worse than the exact same item someone else bought for a greater or lesser price. An appropriate comment might be that the "buyer should beware". The only way to ascertain one gets the quality of product at a reasonable price is to do ones research, then decide if what you are willing to pay is commensurate with what you expect to receive. Sometimes sellers place intangible values to products that cannot be measured, and only mean something to the seller. If that intangible is not worth what you are willing to pay, then you don't buy it. I guess this is a simple way of saying that a product cannot be termed over or under priced just by the value place on it by the seller and/or the buyer. Probably a fairer way of stating it would be, what the average person would ask/pay for a certain product establishes a baseline for determining a value, and is not necessarily the value one individual has placed on their product or their desire to purchase that product.

Well insulting anyone/everyone absolutely was not my intention and of course I realize we all see different ads every time we reload a page etc.. but what I was referring to is a few very common items that was listed so overpriced it was just shocking to me. I dunno maybe there is reason that they was marked so high like a flaw or a variety. The images are really small so there might be more to it? Having said that however I will say that their is quite a few of wonderful pieces being offered too!
Believe me when I say that I have NOTHING but respect for our wonderful members but some of those listings just seem to be a bit "reaching" to me. I honestly don't care what anyone thinks of me and what I said I believe in or I wouldn't have said it. if this offends you then don't read it or better yet just don't reply.

I asked the admin to delete this thread. Sorry for even saying anything. I'll just keep my yap shut from not on.

I think it would be better if we just all remember that humor, tone, and intent don't always come across well in a written message.

And I think that all of us, who have so much in common, should give one another the "benefit of the doubt" when we're not sure how to interpret a comment.

Let's just end this discussion now and chalk it up as miscommunication with no insults intended and no fouls committed.
