I KissAnna,

This is a postmark (applied four times) rather than an overprint or surcharge.

I believe this was applied by a rural postman when emptying a local postbox.

A small handstamp with a letter/number was inside the postbox for use by the mailman and he could, if the recipient was on his route, deliver the letter. He cancelled the postage stamps with the handstamp in that case. Otherwise he marked the cover with the postbox identifying letter/numeral.
