The Stanley Gibbons consice catalogue lists the machin booklets and gives prices for selvedge as being on right or left with some price differences. Was there a unique printing method that makes these priced differently?

sorry US collector who just came across a bunch of booklets. Borrowed a 2003 SG concise catalogue and learning to identify british stamps and such
