Stamp subjects are decided upon based on what's impt. in the country, and what's collectable / topical in the international collecting community.

Wert, what year range did you use for your survey please?

There are lots of people on Canada stamps that have accomplished good things in the world.

Plus things that are important to smaller and larger Canadians, like cats and dogs, bicycles, flowers, animals and birds found in Canada (and around the world, example Polar Regions), etc, etc.

edit: typos, oops.

It's important to remember that the item pictured is not always what is being honoured/commemorated. A bicycle might represent a major international sporting event or show a mode of transport during an era that is the true focus of the stamp. Perhaps that is obvious, but I know it gets forgotten sometimes.

So...how many Canadian stamps commemorate bicycles versus the number of Canadian stamps that have a bicycle in their design?

Petermac, he is a break down of what Canada Post did to honour the idea of a bicycles...They honoured 7 out of the 12 stamps..5 just happen to have bikes in their design..below are the 7 that have bikes as their main idea...Now in contrast only 4 out of 6 stamps to honour FIRE FIGHTERS has them in the picture...I still dont get it...
