Does anyone know or have a purchasing history with the dealer Ron Ritzer in Millburn, N.J.? I am having a perplexing experience with him, and was wondering if anyone else has knowledge of him.

I had an annoying odd experience with him about 15 years ago. I was on his mailing list but had never purchased anything. Out of the blue I got an invoice from him for a book I had not ordered and covering a subject I did not collect. The invoice referred to 'meeting you at NAPEX' a show I had never been to. He had a toll free number so I called and spoke with him- he explained that this was a mixup, the invoice was intended for another customer and to disregard it. About two months later I got another invoice telling me my account was overdue- so.. another call and more apologies saying he would definitely fix it.

Fast forward another two months and I get a notice from him again telling me an APS complaint would be filed and I was being referred to a collection agency! I called him again- I won't repeat exactly what I told him but it was to the effect that he seemed incapable of fixing what started out as a simple error and that was now jeopardizing my APS status and credit rating- that I'd sue the hell out of him if it went that far. That is finally when I stopped getting notices. I never knew if the customer that he sold the book to ever paid up or not- I sort of hope he didn't- no one deserved being stiffed more than this guy.

I know little more about him other than that one experience- he just seemed disorganized and sloppy. I wish you luck in dealing with him, sad to think he is still not improved in his methods.

Thanks for the response. I'm afraid my experience only confirms the impression you were left with. Since I posted my inquiry, I've discovered that he was reprimanded by the APS in 2007 for "failure to promptly settle philatelic indebtedness (violation of Coded of Ethics #8)". The APS says he is no longer a member. Too bad I didn't do my homework before deciding to do business with him.
