My interest in my Scott International Part One collection was rejuvenated by a thread on this forum. Here are a few additions I picked up at a small local stamp show this weekend. My French Offices in China are now almost complete (one stamp missing) and I completed French Guiana and French Sudan!

Those are great -- I especially love the bi-colored airmails, none of which have spaces in my 1947 Big Blue! |

Greetings, SS. It was nice of the Spanish to put dates on some of their early stamps. It makes it easier for me to identify them. |

I scored 8 Netherlands embossed revenues at a local stamps show. The face values are 50c, 75c, 1Gl, 1.25Gl, 1.75Gl, 2Gl, 2.25Gl and 6Gl. I paid $3.00 for the set of 8. |

I recently bought the 1920-21 Belgium RR/Parcel Post Stamps, Scott Q103-131 on DelCampe. The previous owner of my Scott Blue International Volume One did a poor job of putting the correct stamps into the provided spaces, something which I proceeded to make worse until I finally started paying attention to what really belonged! |

1840to1940, that's a really nice set. My 1947 Big Blue has 25 mostly blank spaces for the "1916-20" smaller size parcel post stamps, which span all or most of 3 sets, including yours. I've been acquiring random stamps from all 3 sets one at a time over the years, and still have at least 10 blank spaces. I now realize that for a variety of reasons, it would be smarter for me to simply try to find a good set like the one you got! |

But rustyc, what would be the fun in that! Seriously, I tried buying the stamps individually from my usual sources and finally gave up after about a year. They were rarely listed and it was going to take forever. |

But at this pace I'll have to live to be at least 120 to fill the spaces! |

excellent additions all. when I first started collecting in the 1960's or so, I concentrated almost exclusively on US. However my grandfather who at one time in his career was a travel agent in Hartford, CT used to pick up stamps from various places in central and latin america that he was scouting out for his client. thus his collection, which I inherited when he passed, was heavy in Guatemala, Costa Rica, and El Salvador. It wasn't long before I realized that the entire world was producing beautiful engraved stamps between 1890 and 1930, many of them bicolored and many of them printed by the American Bank Note Company. Those bicolored Bolivian Airmails you show are an example. The other thing I realized, was that the economic strength of the country did not necessarily correlate with the beauty and intricacy of their stamps: think early Haiti, Liberia, and Ethiopia. |

Great eye appeal, stallzer. You've probably seen dozens (or maybe many more) of the stamp before finding that centering. |

Thank you for sharing this, Rodolfo. In addition to being a very nice cover, it's an interesting historical item. |

Portugal 97-109 (Scott numbers) Prince Henry set from 1894, used. Newfoundland Scott numbers 31,42, 49, 109; LH or HR. All of these were purchased from reputable dealers from various ads in the American Philatelist or Linns. No ebay. |
