Hello,

I have trouble IDing the month this 3 cents Small Queen was obliterated. I have a couple of theories, but help would be very welcome! :)

First is a scan of the original, followed by retouched and filtered pictures :

For what it is worth, I read it as MR, i.e. March.

I had eliminated any months beyond May, but I agree that March is certainly the most probable answer.

As archerg pointed out, it is a 37b, copper red!
