Is This Unusual? Hornellsville, NY Machine Cancel (1906)

Is this unusual or is it just re-use of existing postmarking equipment after the name change?

According to the Postal Bulletin, it seems the Hornellsville, NY post office name was changed to Hornell, NY on July 5, 1906:



Yet this postcard made its way through a machine canceller on August 3, 1906, almost a month after the name change "officially" took place:

The Flag Cancel Encyclopedia indicates that the Hornellsville dial was used through the rest of 1906 and the Hornell dial didn't go into use until January 1, 1907. Perhaps there are other similar examples when town names changed in the early 20th century...

Thanks for the info.

I suppose it would make an interesting study to find postmarks where town names changed and they continued to use the old postmarking equipment until new dials/slugs were created.

In fact, I just checked ebay and found an even later Hornellsville, NY machine cancel - October 6, 1906:
