Here I post images of all the definitive series stamps issued from my country, Republic of India. I wish other scf members could post images of definitive stamp series from their own land. So that every one could know how to collect definitives which are the real postally used stamps. Commemorative stamps are most probably used postally now, as they are kept as mint sheets. Any how, I have tried to post some thing from my Land, I wish other collectors could help. I am trying to make such full sets of definitive stamps from India and offer it as giveaway, one definitive series set one month to atleast 10 scf members. first series second series third series fourth series Fifth series sixth series seventh series eigth series ninth series tenth series

Hi palaniappan,
I'm collecting definitive series worldwide issued in 1959. The second series you show was issued in 1955, and four stamps of that series (1R, 2R, 5R, 10R) were re-issued in 1959 with a different watermark and slightly different perforation. I still need those so if you happen to have them in one of your give-aways I'm definitely interested.

yes floortrader, I appreciate your valuable suggestion. What I intended to do initially was that every other scf member would post their own country definitive sets on this topic, so that it could grow a little bit bigger. In this way, we make our own online reference for country specific definitive sets.
I can provide you any definitive stamp missing in your collectin, except the first and second series for now. I have a few stamps except the high value in the first and second series.
I am going to give definitive sets from my country to 10 scf members (only on first come first serve model) in the next month giveaway.
Just wait for the giveaway, I have acquired a lot of kiloware on paper, off paper, bundles, which has to reach some other collector.
warm wishes. |

No ,I have not purchased any kiloware in 35 years . Most purchases are specialized material at major stamp auctions, but I also purchase a dealer lot or worldwide lot to sort thru . My recent purchase was 5 auction lots of research books and literature which cost me about $1200.00.I don't purchase any stamps online . |

i do occasionally buy some kiloware locally on ebay.in, when it is affordable. I am only 33 years old, I started collecting stamps at the age 12. My father purchased some USA kiloware and gave it to me and my younger brother. I did all the soaking and drying and storing them in albums. I stopped collecting stamps during my college, later no time during my teaching jobs, but for the past three years, I have been collecting and improving my collection continously. The stamp community forum has taught me lot of important things about philately. I am still a beginner, there are lot of key concepts to be learnt in this forum. warm wishes. |

yes my friend there are 20 stamps. According to stamp catalogs in India (Phila India 2011-12) the 10 rupees stamp depicting Qutub Minar has two colour variations a)purple brown & deep blue b)purple brown & blue
even in scott catalog the # 221, two colours are mentioned but not sub type number is mentioned.
But two colours exist.
warm wishes. |
