Hi, I'm new to this site as I am just going through my entire collection valuing and identifying them. It's gone well so far, but have had absolutely no luck at all with this one. If anyone could help that would be great - thanks, Ed

Hi!
It's not a postage stamp, but a cut out from an item of postal stationery - probably a postal stamped envelope.

Hi Edross3 and welcome to the forum.

What you have scanned appears to be a 'cut-square' from a postal card or postal stationery envelope.

It is hard to tell which one when they are cut like this, but, it is of minimal value.

Hope this helps?

Hi Edross3.......to the forum.

Your stamp is interesting, I believe it is King George VI and from around the 1940's...Scott U49 cut from an envelope.

Elliot Fairchilds Air Service
With (for want of a better word) the yellow swastikas.

Seeking information / links on this one,
I have seen it afforded a catalogue Sc#CL9 Canada,
but cannot find it anywhere.

Not in Unitrade
Not in the "Field Guide to Cinderella Stamps of Canada"

All information /gossip welcomed for my album page.

Esp. How to ID the "Filled in wing" variety ?

- Elliot-Fairchild Air Service
- service to Red Lake and Rouyn Goldfields
- SC CL9
- issued April 7, 1926 in a pane of 8 stamps
- perforation 11.5 x 11.5
- no known proofs of this issue
- blue on yellow background of swastikas
- 2017 Unitrade valuations (page 565):
CL9 - single $30.00
CL9a - imperforate pair $1,750.00
CL9b - horizontal or vertical pair $150.00 [therefore this block is $300.00]
CL9c - Filled in wing Position 1 $100.00
CL9d - pane with upper right stamp inverted $350.00

The filled in wing variety CL9c appears only in position 1 and the top edge of top left wing is almost solid.

I've used your stamp to illustrate it.

Correct on filled-in wing variety. CL stamps ARE in Unitrade as Semi-official airmails. Per my knowledge, there are two trial color proofs. Black on yellow and red on yellow. I have one of the later.
