Hello SCF
So First if you look I think they have this miss labeled as a Die2 I'm looking at my Untried page 556 showing the die 1 and 2 difference on the war tax admirals and If my eyes are not tricking me this is a DIE I. Also, This is a Halifax and Yarthmouth RPO does this add value to the cover being sent from a railroad post office?

This Is a first of 21 I bought in the classics from a non cover dealer. Think he was happy someone just took them off his hands. So Experts please chime in and lets try to put a basic estimate of what the values are since I do like them and more than likely will be adding them to my collection and need to have a value for insurance purposes if you know what I mean.

Next is a weird first flight use of postage. Im thinking that C1 was the normal usage for this cover but I have five 149 1 cent yellow scrolls first the front. Back scan coming soon. Does this add value for oddity?
I know it was the Moncton July 1, 1929 first flight cover to Charlottetown franked normally with C1 with the "Swollen Breast" variety. Which at shows I've seen prices from $50 to $80 on them. Mine does have aa little stain at the bottom.

I would agree wert, but see how the extra dots filled into the right of the T match more the Die I show on the 2014 Unitrade page 556 it's kind confusing< but I do se the 2 short Diag lines too. HMM thats why I ask you the experts.

I'll defer to Canadian specialists to respond to your specific inquiry about the stamp and cover, but thought you might be interested in this period ad for the addressee, the Pittsfield Poultry Company at Holliston, Massachusetts:

WT1 I love it. And it makes this cancel make so much more sense, because they would buy a chickens and pick them up at the railroad I would think. See this is why I love this stuff.

Just think $18 and I could feed a family of five for a long time if those suckers multiply fast.

Now I have two late queen V from two small towns that are addressed to The Canadian Camera and Optical CO. That was pretty high tech for July 28 and June 13th of 1900.

Cool to lookup they had patent in October of that year with the Canadian patent office. http://books.google.com/books?id=b7...1900&f=false

And The best I could find of on of these sexy bests of technology was here at this site : http://piercevaubel.com/cam/misc/ca...ncoeview.htm according to the site this is the 1910 model. Oh and both show a post mark to Toronto a day later on the back of each envelope where the company was located. Was this common practice to do back then to stamp a cancel on the back of an envelope when it reached city destination? scans of both covers and then each stamp. Let hope for a verity

If I'm reading the first postmark right its Desronto ONT
Settled 1784
Incorporated 1871 (village)
Incorporated 1889 (town)
Town with a pop. 1,835 as of 2011. Is this a rare cancel or not so much since it sets on the great lakes.

Also, I'm thinking Die 1 plain garden verity. If now there was only a way to check if it had the horizontal stitch watermark without taking it off the cover cause this one is staying on.

Number two is on its way.

So next As you can see they didn't right in the fancy penmanship as the other. Comes from a town in Ontario called Norwood which I was suppressed jus became Incorperated in January 1, 1998. Thats kinda recent, but an estimated 4,000 plus live there. So not sure this is a place to be a rare postal cancel or not? The township comprises the communities of Birdsall, Birdsall Station, Norwood and Westwood. On further reading it looks like this town plays a part of it being part of minor league hokey. Please my fellow Canadian's forgive me if I have that wrong.

And I'm thinking die 1 on this one too.

Thanks BlackJag, I was 2 out of 3 in baseball I would be a HOFer :) Anyways what would you put the uniqueness of some of these cancels and covers? Covers hasn't been a strong area for me since i'm just starting to collect them in Canada or Some very limited towns I've been to in the US. Also, I'm still scratching my head on the first flight cover all I've seen for sell online are with C1 does this using 5 1 cent scroll make it unique and worth more or even close to the value. This is just 4 of the 22 I bought and will keep posting. I like to do my research to the best of my limited ability before posting each one and am honored to gain knowledge of what I have from the specialized Canadian experts as yourself. So Thank you everyone so far for helping me learn a little history and this cool little poor man purchase. Unless something is insanely high in value I post which is small queens tomorrow These will be staying in the family and making there way into an album page with a story for each. This is my little part to keep the hobby and history alive so thank you everyone.

Also. I just got in John Hillson's little book on the small queens so maybe when I post I can be a little more educated. Short read and worth the $8 I found it for on ebay for.

More to come tomorrow. Oh and an update to the family. The back surgery Went Well and now its day by day getting over the surgical pain is all, but i'm feeeling really good. So anyone having Lumbar surgery in the future don't be to scared they have come a long way over the years.

Halifax & Yarthmouth RPO according to my map looks like this would have been used heavily to get all mail from the West porto f Yarmpouth to the middle port of Hailfax NS. Is it fair to assume this usage again was large in 1917 time period since the line did not shut down till 1956 I do believe? Any buffs that know this RPO better help me out here.

Okay So here is another one since I can't seem to sleep tonight. If I read the post mark right its from a town Parry Sound, Ontario which is the deepest fresh water port in the world according to wiki. Established 1857 with a pop around today of 6,191 in 2011. Look like the size of the town has stayed the same since the early 60's but in 32 it would have been around 3500. So i'm thinking thats a small town. not rare, but should at lat be scare among the surviving letters of the time period. Other than being a harbor I can't see any other means of income for the area, but way cool the legend Bobby Orr was from there. Now it's addressed to a lady from the best I can make out, but I find it odd to who the Care Of its to and the room name my google came up empty on it. I know it was a crazy time in the 20's and 30's here here so I'll let you imagination run wild here.

Back I find interesting and don't know what all it postal means. Is this coming from Government office in Toronto and its sending out an audit correspondence. Like how the IRS brought down the gangs here in the US? Hey its late and I'm having fun imagining my mail is being used to bring down a crime ring. I harbor/port is a great place to smuggle stuff. I'm Guessing in the from on the back I see PO so maybe its post office official correspondence?

Now with this being a 32 and it being official mail its getting to end of life(I doubt this was from a dose of stamps laying around from an older purchase) plus the P's are showing more like a later plate IMHO which would make this a die 2. the only question I can't tell and my gut says yes its the normal one, but I'm not 100% does he have the normal mustache? Also, If memory serves me correct this doesn't have any other verity to look for if this indeed is the 165a?

So I Dug a little more and J Eaton CO is probabl a duh Joe for you, but I found out its one of Canada's great
national department store. Like Macy's for us and that the Georgian Room was a restaurant in it. So Now I'm trying to dig to find more about the lady who may have worked there or managed the place at the time. She could be having personal mail delivered to her office too like I do if it's something I need to sign for and I know the UPS guys gonna run at 1:30. I'm amazed at the power of google.
