And here I thought I was almost done Cataloguing and hinging Canadian Stamps. WRONG
At my first stamp club meeting I purchase a Unitrade Specialized Catalogue of Canadian Stamps to help me with the ealier issues that I was having trouble with.
Come to find out I had only scratched the surface of my Canadian Collection.
My first attempt ( after I had sorted all my stamps) I discovered the tagged and untagged versions on some stamps and had to go back to my spares piles and sort them all again. While checking for tags I noticed that some though not tagged seemed brighter than normal. I assumed that they were fakes and placed them back in the spares piles.
Well come to find out these are what is known to be stamps printed on High Bright paper. Not only that but some issues also have different kinds of tagging.
Back to the drawing board and to
ebay as I gave away many of my spares alwread. Let this be a lesson to all other newbies. Never rush things. And good catalogues are invaluable.
I plan on this being a contiuous thread as I trudge my way once again through my Candadian collection and will keep you informed on my progress and the other info I found.
For all you seasoned collectors go ahead and chuckle I can take it.
Here is an example of the page explaining tagging and the different types. If anyone wants a readable copy of this I could email it to them.
