Good evening,

I am looking at branching out from penny reds to stamps with images of Land Rovers on them. While the UK has a pair of stamps with Land Rovers, Iceland another, Alderney another, as something to search the net for, or wade through catalogues with images that are quite small, it is challenging (which is part of the fun. Going through stamps to find them, once identified is the next!)

I was wondering if there were any sources to add to this partial list -

Not a single reply! Talk about a rare topic! Might I ask for a variant Are there lists or a site which looks at 4x4's on stamps, or possibly just Jeeps or Toyotas?

Given the small size of the images, it is easy to make mistakes. An interesting example is the Lesotho series of Africa in Movies. One film, Hatari! is depicting John Wayne and a 4x4, which has be misidentified as a Land Rover. A check of IMDB shows the vehicles used were Jeep CJ-6's.

So, hoping others have made the same mistake, are there lists on-line anywhere?

Thank you,

Just typed Land Rover stamps into ebay out of curiosity. It turned up:

Spanish Sahara, and with a Land Rover-branded label attached too:

Malawi 2010

Tristan Da Cunha 1983

Tuvalu 1950

Uruguay:

Libya 1981

Libya 2003

Togo 'Fire Trucks' stamps, 2011

...and I think you may find three GB, not two - there's the Police stamp from 1979; the 'Emmerdale' stamp from 2005; and the coastguard stamp from 2013.

A keyword search in the online Michel finds some not on your list:

Jersey 2001, Landrover Merryweather (Firebrigade)
Iceland 2006
Togo 2012, Land Rover H.C.B. Angus L4P (Firebrigade)
Tristan da Cunha 1983
Uruguay 1997

Emmerdale, interesting. That one completely escaped me. A large number of on-line searches are turning up more and more and I spoke too soon as there were more ebay hits that needed to be collated.

Per Libya, there are actually 3 there too. 1983.

Tristan seems to have five.

As for the ebay Western Sahara (or Sahara Occ), that is an interesting discussion point. Is it a postage stamp, being "issued" by a political group fighting the occupation of the former Spanish colony by Morroco. If used internally, possibly, but the Moroccans are pretty efficient, so...

Many thanks, the list (spreadsheet) grows.
