These PEI stamps are often very brittle; you do have to be especially careful handling them. I've seen almost as many damaged as whole.

Hey Everyone,
Long time lurker but saw this one and had to add my bad day.

Don't cut mounts to size with the stamp on in the mount.
I bisected a US O117.
I was so proud or it. :-[

I do cut mounts with stamps in them. I haven't made that mistake.

Re spade tip vs lethal tip vs textured tip vs ...

I keep a Old School GEM single-edge razor blade handy; if the initial lift is troublesome, I use the corner of the blade, stabbing the stamp is the very center of the design, and then apply some other tongs.

The razor blade is thin enough to get under most anything.

Having any liquids around stamps can be Lethal! Any Liquids be it pop, Beer or Coffee and stamps don't mix. Keep all liquids away from stamps.

AND DON'T WORK ON YOUR STAMPS WHILE TAKING A BATH....HAHA

I had bought a NFLD stamp from a guy about a month ago...while trying to pack it, he ripped it..Poor guy..Gave me another one though...

wert - It was over 10 years ago.
I performed a ceremony and cremated it and sent it to the stamp gods :-)
