I have bid with a number of firms via stampauctionnetwork recently and I don't get any advice about whether I was successful or not.

One lot was listed on a live auction on ebay, stamp auction netweork and through the firm's website. All I could see the winning bid was $75 against my bid of $105 and when I rang I was told the successful bidder paid $140.

Any similar experiences to mine?

John

Two comments. There is sometimes a lag between what is posted on an auction Web site and what the final - winning bid was. Also, to my regret I found that the FIRST bid of a certain amount takes precedence over a second bid of that amount. My sense (if others disagree please say so) is that you should bid early, and bid to the highest amount you want to pay. The auction will record only from the opening price and then increment on what bids come in. In other words if you bid $100 that amount won't be entered until someone bids $95.
