CICERO-BERWYN STAMP BOURSE
SUNDAY MARCH 15th 8.30am - 2.30pm

SOKOL-TABOR HALL
6630 West 16th Street , Berwyn IL 60546

(Freeway 290, exit Harlem Avenue, go south, turn left on 16th Street,
go thru 2 traffic lights, just after the next stop sign, turn right into alley and park)

I've been going to the stamp bourse off and on for years , from what I hear it's been running for over 30 years.

Come early I repeat .... Come early , I've seen dealers leave by 12:30pm , on several occasions I saw deals go down in the parking lot where an oldtimer showed up and sold part of his collection on the cheap.

Jayelem,
Will there be a show cover or postmark?

If you see any reasonably priced Route 66 related stuff, let me know. For example: pictorial postmarks, cachets, precancels, etc. I will gladly reimburse you. Thanks.

At one time they had about 20 bourses a year , 1st and 3rd Sunday unless a major holiday landed on a Sunday ,now they're lucky if they have a bourse once a month, no special cancelations though.

An interesting cover from Berwyn would be one commemorating the Houby Day festival (mushroom picking festival), years ago when the city of Berwyn still had a large Czech population I remember a special cachet and interesting cancelation from the local post office , Route 66 runs thru Berwyn so I'll inquire with the local dealers to see if anyone has one of these covers, I might have one put away.

Thank you very much. That sounds like an interesting festival. I do enjoy a well seasoned mushroom, especially fried or sauteed.

The show listing for the Berwyn Stamp Bourse was incorrect , March 22nd is the date and I found out the hard way , lucky for me it's only 5 minutes away .

The Good news is I found another Philatelic event to go to . POLPEX 2009
Picked up 3 interesting Souvenir Sheets (Cuba related) , some stamp supplies , a nice Photo Postcard from Guantanamo City , oh ..... and some goodies to be listed later.
